It is powered by a 999 cc water/oil-cooled inline four-cylinder engine featuring BMW ShiftCam technology. This model is positioned as BMW's top-tier racing homologation special, offering exceptional track performance. Available trims include the standard M 1000 RR and the enhanced M Competition package. While maintaining its core 999 cc engine, the M 1000 RR has received significant mid-cycle updates rather than full generation changes. The 2023 model year brought major aerodynamic revisions, including a new fairing and M winglets, enhancing downforce and top speed.
