Vehicle Information
Honda XR70R Dirt Bike (1997-2004)
The Honda XR70R, produced from 1997 to 2004, was a popular beginner trail bike renowned for its reliability and user-friendly design. It featured an air-cooled, 4-stroke, OHC, single-cylinder engine with a displacement of 71 cc or 72 cc, delivering approximately 4.9 PS (3.6 kW) at 8000 rpm. Some 2002 and 2003 models were rated at 5.50 HP. This engine utilized a kick starter and was paired with a three-speed transmission with an automatic clutch, making it ideal for new riders. Throughout its production run, the XR70R was primarily offered as a single "Base" model, with no distinct trim levels. While the core engine and chassis remained consistent, the XR70R saw cosmetic updates. In 2001, it received a "plastic update" to align its appearance with Honda's larger CR motocross bikes. A more significant change occurred in 2004, when the XR70R underwent another plastic update and was subsequently renamed the CRF70. This marked the transition to the CRF line, effectively ending the XR70R designation, though the fundamental mechanicals were retained. FAQ:
