The Yamaha TX750, produced from 1973 to 1974, was Yamaha's attempt to create a smooth parallel-twin motorcycle with the feel of an inline-four engine, primarily for the touring market. It featured a four-stroke, air-cooled parallel-twin engine with a single overhead camshaft (SOHC) and two valves per cylinder, with a displacement of 743 cc (or 744 cc). This engine produced 63 hp (45.9 kW) at 6100 or 7500 rpm and 50.6 lb-ft (7.0 kgf-m) of torque at 6000 rpm. The TX750 experienced significant mid-cycle changes due to reliability problems, particularly concerning its innovative "Omni-Phase balancer" system and lubrication.
