Significant changes occurred across these years, distinguishing the Tecate 3 and Tecate 4. The Tecate 3 (1984-1987) initially had a 5-speed transmission, a top-mounted radiator, and an off-center headlight, later updated in 1986-1987 with a split radiator, Uni-Trak suspension, and a centered headlight.
