It was equipped with a 549cc liquid-cooled, 4-stroke SOHC single-cylinder engine with Electronic Fuel Injection (EFI), generating approximately 42 horsepower (42.2 HP according to some sources). During its production, the Sportsman 550 underwent significant evolutions. As early as 2009, the "XP chassis" was introduced, enhancing stability and handling.
