Vehicle Information
Arctic Cat Mountain Cat 600 Snowmobile (2001-2004)
The Arctic Cat Mountain Cat 600, produced from 2001 to 2004, was a prominent mountain snowmobile powered by a 599cc, 2-stroke, liquid-cooled engine with Electronic Fuel Injection (EFI). This robust horizontal in-line twin engine, often identified as a Suzuki unit, provided reliable performance for its class. While specific horsepower figures for these exact years are not consistently available, later 600cc engines were noted to be in the 125 hp range, suggesting comparable output. Throughout its production, the Mountain Cat 600 saw several key enhancements. The 2001 model introduced Arctic Power Valve (APV) technology, wider footholds, and improved ergonomics with a riser block handlebar. Significant chassis updates arrived in 2003, including a 35-pound weight reduction and a dropped and rolled chaincase, alongside the introduction of the "1M" mountain-specific chassis with longer track options. Further weight savings of 8.5 pounds were achieved in 2004, featuring a plastic dropcase, an 8-inch rear wheel for efficiency, and an adjustable ski stance, enhancing its mountain capabilities. Trims like the Limited Edition (LE) and various track lengths (136-inch, 144-inch) were offered across the years. FAQ:
