Vehicle Information
Polaris 550 Snowmobile (2008)
The 2008 Polaris 550 snowmobile models, including the Indy 550 LX, Trail Touring Deluxe, and Super Sport 550, were powered by a reliable 544cc fan-cooled engine. This 2-stroke, horizontal in-line, reed valve engine delivered 60 horsepower, offering a balanced performance for trail riding and touring. These models were built on the proven EDGE chassis, known for its robust suspension system. For the 2008 model year, the 550 fan-cooled engine received an upgrade to NiCaSil-lined cylinders, enhancing fuel economy and reducing emissions. While other Polaris models saw updates to the IQ chassis, the 550 LX, Trail Touring Deluxe, and Super Sport 550 retained the EDGE chassis, meaning features like new spindles and the Freestyle seat did not apply to these specific 550 models. It is important to note that the "550 IQ Shift" model was powered by a 599cc engine, not the 550cc engine found in these models. A safety recall was issued for certain 2008 Polaris 550 models regarding a potential issue with the electric starter drive clutch ring gear. Q: How can I confirm this product fits my 2008 Polaris 550?
A: To ensure perfect compatibility, please use the year and model selector at the top of this page.
