Vehicle Information
KTM 520 MXC Dirt Bike (2000-2002)
The KTM 520 MXC, produced from 2000 to 2002, was a formidable cross-country competition motorcycle, central to KTM's "Racing Four Stroke" (RFS) revolution. This model featured a liquid-cooled, single-cylinder, four-stroke engine with a Single Overhead Camshaft (SOHC) and 4 valves, consistently displacing 510cc. It was equipped with a 39mm Keihin FCR carburetor, a balancer shaft for reduced vibrations, and an electric start, paired with a 6-speed transmission. The primary trim was the 520 MXC, sometimes designated "520 M/XC RACING" for its competition focus. While the core RFS engine platform remained consistent, KTM introduced significant evolutionary updates during its production. For 2001, the piston was updated for durability, radiator efficiency improved, and the fuel tank redesigned for a narrower rider section. All full-size KTMs, including the MXC, received a 43mm WP Upside-Down Multi-Adjuster (USD MA) cartridge fork and a WP Progressive Damping System (PDS) no-linkage rear shock. In 2002, KTM further enhanced power output with engine technical improvements and refined handling with upgraded WP USD forks and improved internal settings for the PDS shock, featuring a new forged shock body.
