Yamaha RT1-MX 360 Dirt Bike (1970-1971)
The Yamaha RT1-MX 360, produced between 1970 and 1971, was a single-cylinder two-stroke motorcycle renowned for its motocross performance. Although marketed as a 360cc model, its actual engine displacement was 351cc, featuring an 80mm bore and 70mm stroke. The RT1-MX model, equipped with the Genuine Yamaha Tuning (GYT) kit, boasted an impressive 36 horsepower, compared to 30 horsepower for the standard RT1 Enduro model. During this period, significant nuances distinguished the models. The 1970 versions (RT1 and RT1M) featured yellow pinstripes, while the 1971 models (RT1B and RT1MX) switched to red pinstripes. The RT1-MX was a stripped-down version of the RT1 Enduro, incorporating the GYT kit which included a higher compression cylinder head (7.2:1), a ported cylinder, a 34mm Mikuni carburetor, and an expansion chamber exhaust.
