Vehicle Information
Yamaha YZF750R Motorcycle - Street (1994-1998)
The Yamaha YZF750R, produced from 1994 to 1998, is a high-performance sportbike known for its 749cc liquid-cooled, four-stroke, transverse four-cylinder DOHC engine with 5 valves per cylinder. This engine consistently delivered around 125 hp. Two primary trims were offered: the standard YZF750R and the homologation special YZF750SP, designed for racing. The YZF750SP featured race-ready 39mm Keihin CR slide carbs, a close-ratio gearbox, an adjustable swingarm pivot, a different rear suspension (often an Öhlins shock), a single seat unit, and different drive ratios, distinguishing it significantly from the R model. While the core engine design remained consistent throughout the 1994-1998 production, there were notable mid-cycle updates. In 1995, the YZF750R's 41mm USD forks gained rebound damping adjustment, adding to their existing preload and compression adjustability. For the 1996 model year, the standard YZF750R received an Öhlins swingarm and rear shock, enhancing its already well-regarded handling. The 1997 and 1998 YZF750R models were largely identical to each other. FAQ:
