Vehicle Information
Kawasaki Eliminator 600 Motorcycle - Street (1986-1997)
The Kawasaki Eliminator 600 (model code ZL600), produced from 1986 to 1997, is a distinctive cruiser motorcycle. It features a liquid-cooled, four-stroke, transverse four-cylinder DOHC engine with 4 valves per cylinder, displacing 592cc or 593cc. This engine, derived from the Kawasaki Ninja 600, was re-tuned to prioritize low-end torque and cruiser performance over peak horsepower. All models came with a 6-speed transmission and shaft drive. The Eliminator 600 was offered in two main versions: the ZL600A (1986-1987) and the ZL600B (1995-1997), with a production gap in some markets between 1988 and 1994. While often considered a single generation, these versions presented notable differences. The ZL600A, for instance, had cast wheels and a 280 mm single disc front brake, while the ZL600B adopted wire-spoke wheels and an upgraded 300 mm single disc front brake with a 2-piston caliper. Suspension also varied, with the ZL600A featuring air-assisted forks and shocks, and the ZL600B using telescopic forks and twin-shocks with 5-way adjustable spring pre-load. Peak horsepower also saw a reduction from approximately 74 HP in the 1986 ZL600A to 61 HP in the 1997 ZL600B. FAQ:
