Vehicle Information
BMW R65LS Motorcycle - Street (1981-1985)
The BMW R65LS, produced from 1981 to 1985, was a sporty and distinctive variant of the standard R65 model. Positioned as a performance-oriented option, it featured a 649.6 cc air-cooled flat-twin boxer engine, delivering 50 hp (37 kW) at 7,250 rpm and 52.3 Nm of torque at 6,500 rpm.
The 1981 model year marked a significant update for the R65 series, which also applied to the R65LS. Key enhancements included an increase in engine power from 45 hp to 50 hp, the introduction of electronic ignition, a lighter flywheel, Nikasil cylinder bores, and larger valves. Braking was improved with Brembo calipers, and the electrical system was relocated. The R65LS, designed by Hans Muth, stood out with its futuristic cockpit fairing, unique seat and tail fairing, exclusive color schemes like henna red, standard twin-disc front brakes, and Y-spoke cast wheels. Q: How can I ensure this product fits my BMW R65LS?
A: Please use the year and edition selector at the top of the page to confirm compatibility for your specific motorcycle.
