Vehicle Information
BMW R75 Motorcycle - Street (1969-1977)
The BMW R75 is an iconic motorcycle produced from 1969 to 1977. Part of the "Airhead" series, it is renowned for its air-cooled 745 cc flat-twin (Boxer) engine. This model evolved through three main series: the R75/5, R75/6, and R75/7, each bringing significant improvements. The R75/5 series (1969-1973) marked a major modernization with a new frame, 12-volt electrical system, and telescopic forks. Updates included a longer swingarm and the introduction of the "toaster tank". The R75/6 (1974-1976) introduced a 5-speed gearbox and a front disc brake, replacing the drums. Finally, the R75/7 (1976-1977) brought refinements such as an upgraded alternator and a new fuel tank, before being replaced by the R80/7. FAQ:
Q: My model is a 1972 R75/5. Are parts compatible with a 1977 R75/7?
R: While the 745 cc engine remained consistent, significant changes occurred between the /5, /6, and /7 series. Please use our year and edition selector to find the exact parts for your motorcycle.
