Vehicle Information
Kawasaki Bayou 300 ATV (1985-2004)
The Kawasaki Bayou 300, produced from 1985 to 2004, was a highly regarded utility ATV known for its durability and versatility. It was consistently powered by a reliable 290cc, air-cooled, single-cylinder, SOHC, 4-stroke engine, typically producing around 20 horsepower. The transmission was a 5-speed with reverse and an automatic clutch across all models. While the core engine remained largely unchanged throughout its production, a significant development was the introduction of the 4x4 configuration by the early 1990s, complementing the standard 2x4 model available since 1985. The 4x4 variants often featured a dual-range (Hi/Low) transmission, enhancing their utility. Braking systems also saw variations: early and some later 2x4 models used sealed drum front brakes, whereas many 4x4 models from the 2000s were equipped with dual hydraulic disc front brakes for improved stopping power. Rear braking consistently involved a sealed drum. Suspension generally featured a double A-arm independent front, with some later 4x4 models (2003-2004) offering semi-independent or independent rear suspension. FAQ:
