Kawasaki Concours 1000 Motorcycle - Street (1986-2006)
The Kawasaki Concours 1000, also known as the ZG1000 or GTR1000, was a prominent sport-touring motorcycle produced from 1986 to 2006. It was powered by a robust 997cc liquid-cooled, transverse in-line four-cylinder, DOHC, 16-valve engine, derived from the Ninja 1000R but detuned for touring comfort. This model was offered as a single dedicated sport-tourer throughout its production, featuring a full fairing, shaft drive, and standard removable hard luggage. While the core engine remained consistent, the Concours 1000 underwent significant updates. Minor adjustments were made in 1987, including raised handlebars and larger front brake discs (280mm from 1987-1993). The most substantial redesign occurred in 1994, introducing a wider front wheel, upgraded front brakes with two-piston calipers and 300mm floating rotors, a redesigned seat and instrument cluster (from the Ninja ZX11), and a new fork assembly with spring preload adjusters. The fairing panels were also restyled. These 1994 changes defined the model until the end of its production in 2006, when it was succeeded by the Concours 14.
