Vehicle Information
KTM 990 Supermoto Motorcycle - Street (2009-2014)
The KTM 990 Supermoto series, produced from 2009 to 2014, primarily featured two distinct trims: the 990 Supermoto T (SMT) and the 990 Supermoto R (SMR). Both models were powered by the same robust 999 cc LC8 V-twin engine. The SMT was designed for touring, offering a half-fairing, windscreen, handguards, a more comfortable seat, and integrated saddlebag mounts, along with a 19-liter fuel tank. ABS became a standard feature on the SMT around 2011. The SMR, on the other hand, was the sportier, performance-focused version, characterized by lighter components such as forged Marchesini wheels, high-spec Brembo brakes, and WP suspension tuned for a more aggressive riding style, featuring a 15-liter fuel tank. There were no significant mid-cycle generation breaks or fundamental engine changes (displacement or design) within the 2009-2014 production period. The 999cc LC8 engine remained largely consistent, although KTM did implement refinements like lighter pistons, crankshaft, and connecting rods to enhance responsiveness. The primary distinctions between the SMT and SMR were in their chassis components, ergonomics, and intended use, rather than significant engine variations. FAQ:
