Vehicle Information
Ski-Doo Formula MX 470 Snowmobile (1985-1995)
The Ski-Doo Formula MX 470 was a popular snowmobile produced from 1985 to 1995. It was known for its Rotax engine, consistently around 462cc to 463cc (often rounded to 470cc), offering strong low-end and midrange torque. The 1985 model was notable for introducing independent front suspension (IFS) to a consumer Ski-Doo. While the core 462cc/463cc Rotax engine remained largely consistent in displacement, the Formula MX saw suspension improvements. The DSA (Direct Shock Action) system was introduced around 1994, and by 1995, it featured an improved C-7 rear suspension and DSA independent front suspension. Trims included the standard Formula MX, a Long Track (LT) version, and later, some MXZ variants also used the 470cc engine. There were no major mid-cycle engine displacement changes for the "470" engine itself. Q: How can I ensure this part fits my Ski-Doo Formula MX 470? A: Please use our year and model selector at the top of the page to confirm exact compatibility with your snowmobile.
