Vehicle Information
Arctic Cat Pantera 440 Snowmobile (1975-1992)
The Arctic Cat Pantera 440, produced from 1975 to 1992, was a popular deluxe and touring snowmobile known for its comfort and performance. Initially launched in 1975 with a 436cc Kawasaki twin-cylinder engine, it quickly evolved. A significant redesign in 1976 introduced an all-aluminum frame and a suspended engine, though the primary Pantera model that year often featured a larger 500cc Suzuki engine. Throughout its production, the Pantera 440 saw several key changes. While early models were air-cooled, later versions, particularly from the mid-1980s, consistently featured liquid-cooled Suzuki twin engines. A notable upgrade in 1986 was the introduction of the Arctic Flow System (AFS) front suspension, enhancing ride quality and handling. Trims like the "Pantera AFS" emerged, emphasizing its luxury and touring capabilities with features such as handlebar warmers and electric start options. This model maintained its reputation as a comfortable long-distance machine. Frequently Asked Questions
