Vehicle Information
Arctic Cat Prowler 440 Snowmobile (1990-1994)
The Arctic Cat Prowler 440, produced from 1990 to 1994, was a groundbreaking snowmobile featuring a liquid-cooled 440cc two-cylinder engine. Introduced in 1990, it boasted an all-new, lighter engine with Nikosil cylinder coating and a gear-driven water pump, alongside the innovative Arctic Cat Wishbone Suspension (AWS) offering 7.5 inches of travel. Throughout its production, the Prowler 440 saw key enhancements. In 1991, engine horsepower was increased by upgrading the carburetor from 34mm to 36mm. Trims evolved, including the Prowler Special and the Prowler Mountain Cat with a longer track. A significant update occurred in 1994 with the introduction of Electronic Fuel Injection (EFI) on some models, such as the Prowler EFI 2-Up, improving throttle response and fuel economy. While engine displacement was generally 440cc, some models were listed as 436cc, likely referring to the same engine. FAQ:
