Vehicle Information
Arctic Cat Powder Special 600 Snowmobile (1998-2000)
The Arctic Cat Powder Special 600, produced from 1998 to 2000, was a popular performance snowmobile known for its agility in deep snow. All models in this range were powered by a robust 599cc liquid-cooled Suzuki twin engine, offering consistent power delivery. This series was designed for riders seeking a capable machine for challenging winter conditions, combining reliable performance with Arctic Cat's signature handling. While the core 599cc engine remained, the 2000 "Millennium" models received significant upgrades. These included a new exhaust system, a "three-dimensional" ignition, revised compression, and dual TM38 flat slide carbs, resulting in a reported 5% horsepower increase. Other enhancements for 2000 featured Fox clicker shocks, plastic skis, a larger 49-liter fuel tank, and distinct aesthetic changes, marking a notable evolution from the 1998 and 1999 models which introduced a redesigned secondary clutch in 1998. Q: How do I ensure this part fits my specific Powder Special 600?

Maintenance
| Component | Interval | Details |
| Oil Injection System | Inspect regularly | This 2-stroke snowmobile uses an oil injection system. Ensure the reservoir is kept full with Arctic Cat 50:1 Injection Oil or equivalent TC-W3 rated 2-stroke oil. Running out of oil can cause severe engine damage. |
| Drive Belt | Inspect every 50 hours; replace every 2 400 to 4 800 km | Inspect for cracks, tears, and wear. Replace immediately if damaged. A break-in procedure of 30 km at speeds below 80 km/h is recommended for new belts. |
| Spark Plug | Inspect as needed | Inspect, clean, or replace as necessary. Recommended type: BR9EYA, gap 0.7 mm. A light brown insulator indicates correct operation. |
| Air Filter | Inspect every 10 hours; replace every 50 hours or 6 months | Inspect for snow buildup. Replace more frequently in dusty conditions to ensure optimal engine power and fuel efficiency. |
| Coolant | Check regularly; change every 2 years | Check coolant level and inspect all hoses and connections for deterioration. Add properly mixed coolant as necessary. |
