Vehicle Information
Polaris Indy XC 440 Snowmobile (1997)
The 1997 Polaris Indy XC 440 series was a popular snowmobile known for its performance and versatility. This year offered several distinct trims, including the Indy XC 440, Indy XCF 440, Indy XCR 440, and Indy 440 LC. Engine configurations varied, with models like the Indy XC 440 and XCR 440 featuring a 439cc liquid-cooled engine, while the Indy XCF 440 was equipped with a 432cc fan-cooled twin. The Indy XCR 440 stood out with its advanced XTRA-10 suspension, lighter trailing arms, and E-Z Steer carbide runners, enhancing handling. Its 439cc liquid-cooled engine was considered unique for the year, sometimes referred to as the "tin top," and was noted for its strong performance. While there were variations in engine cooling and specific enhancements across trims, no major generational platform changes occurred within the 1997 model year. A safety recall was issued in late 1997 for steering components on some 440 XC and XCF models, but this was a safety update, not a design change. Q: Will this product fit my Polaris Indy XC 440?
A: To ensure perfect compatibility, please use our year and model selector at the top of the page. This will filter products specifically designed for your snowmobile's exact configuration.
