The Ski-Doo Mach Z 780, produced from 1993 to 1996, was a high-performance snowmobile known for its powerful triple-cylinder engine and innovative chassis. It was powered by a 774cc (often referred to as 780 type) liquid-cooled, 3-cylinder Rotax engine with R.A.V.E. valves, producing approximately 150 horsepower. Fuel delivery was managed by three Mikuni TM-38 carburetors and it featured three tuned exhaust pipes. The introduction of the Mach Z in 1993 marked significant innovations for Ski-Doo, including the first all-aluminum F-2000 chassis, which contributed to a significant weight reduction, and the first 2-stroke, 3-cylinder liquid-cooled engine in a production snowmobile. The 1993 model notably featured a fiberglass hood, which was replaced with plastic in subsequent years, and the introduction of Ultra Glide composite skis. The F-2000 chassis and 774cc engine remained consistent through 1996, with the DSA (Direct Shock Action) front suspension as a key feature.
