Vehicle Information
Yamaha FZ600 Motorcycle - Street (1986-1988)
The Yamaha FZ600, produced from 1986 to 1988, represented Yamaha's initial venture into the 600cc "race replica" motorcycle segment. This model was powered by a 599cc, four-stroke, transverse four-cylinder, DOHC, air-cooled engine, featuring four BS30 Mikuni carburetors. It delivered a maximum power output of approximately 54.6 hp at 9400 rpm, though some sources reported up to 68 hp for the 1986 model. Throughout its production run from 1986 to 1988, the FZ600 did not undergo significant mid-cycle generation or engine changes. The core engine specifications remained consistent. The model was primarily offered as a single, standard version, with no distinct trim levels. Its engine was an evolution of the FJ600's, slightly detuned to enhance mid-range performance. The FZ600 was succeeded in 1989 by the FZR600, which introduced a more rigid "Delta Box" frame and a liquid-cooled engine. Q : Does this page apply to all Yamaha FZ600 models?
R : This page specifically covers Yamaha FZ600 models produced between 1986 and 1988. To confirm compatibility with your motorcycle, please use the year and edition selector on this page.
