Vehicle Information
Yamaha V-Max 1200 Motorcycle - Street (1985-2007)
The Yamaha V-Max 1200, produced from 1985 to 2007, is an iconic motorcycle renowned for its powerful 1,198cc V4 engine and distinctive "muscle bike" styling. While it did not feature distinct trim levels, it underwent minor modifications and regional variations throughout its production run. The V4 engine's power, featuring the V-Boost system on original North American models, reached 145 horsepower in 1985. Early European versions often had reduced output, around 100 hp, lacking V-Boost. Towards the end of its production (2003-2007), power was adjusted for environmental standards, with 135 hp for USA models and 140 hp for Canadian versions, before being unified to 135 hp in 2007. Significant updates were introduced, notably in 1993 with chassis improvements (43mm forks, 298mm brake discs, 4-piston calipers) and carburetor revisions. Other updates included the ignition system in 1990 and engine adjustments in 1996 and 1999. Despite these evolutions, the fundamental character of the V-Max 1200 remained consistent. FAQ:
