Vehicle Information
Suzuki GSX-R600 Motorcycle - Street (1992-2026)
The Suzuki GSX-R600, an iconic sportbike, has been a cornerstone of Suzuki's lineup from 1992 to 2026. Throughout its production, it has consistently featured a 599cc liquid-cooled, four-stroke, four-cylinder, DOHC engine, undergoing numerous revisions to enhance performance and handling. The GSX-R600 saw a production hiatus from 1994 to 1996. Its reintroduction in 1997 marked the second generation with the SRAD system. A significant leap occurred in 2001 with the introduction of fuel injection, a redesigned, lighter engine and chassis. Further major redesigns in 2004 brought radial brakes and inverted forks, followed by an all-new engine and slipper clutch in 2006. The 2011 "seventh generation" introduced substantial weight reduction, Showa Big Piston Forks, and Brembo brakes, forming the basis for models up to 2026, with the 2025 model adding a modern electronic suite including traction control and a quick shifter. Trims have primarily been standard models, with occasional "Z" variants for special graphics or limited editions like the 2003 "Alstare" and 2026 40th Anniversary Edition. FAQ:
Q: How do I ensure I select the correct parts for my GSX-R600?
A: Please use the year and edition selector on this page to find parts specifically compatible with your motorcycle.
Q: Are parts interchangeable between different generations?
A: Due to significant generational changes, parts compatibility varies. Always refer to the selector for accurate fitment.
Maintenance
| Component | Interval | Details |
| Engine Oil and Filter | 6,000 km or 12 months | Change oil and filter at each interval for optimal performance. The oil filter is often compatible across many years. |
| Spark Plugs | Check or replace every 6,000 km or 12 months | Iridium or platinum spark plugs can last up to 20,000-30,000 km. 2001-2010 models recommended replacement every 12,000 km. |
| Air Filter | Check and replace if necessary every 4,000 to 6,000 km | Interval may vary based on riding conditions (e.g., dusty environments). Filter design has changed across generations. |
| Coolant | Check level regularly | Use anti-freeze/coolant compatible with aluminum radiators. Full replacement interval is not consistently detailed in sources for all years. |
| Drive System | Regular inspection | The Suzuki GSX-R600 uses a chain drive system, not a belt drive. Maintenance involves regular inspection, cleaning, and adjustment of the chain. |
