Yamaha Rhino 700 Side-by-Side (2008-2013)
The Yamaha Rhino 700, produced from 2008 to 2013, was a popular recreational-utility side-by-side, known for its robust engine and practical features. All models during this period were powered by a 686cc liquid-cooled, single-cylinder, four-stroke SOHC engine with electronic fuel injection (EFI). This engine, designed for torque and utility, produced approximately 29 hp (for the 2011 model), featuring a four-valve cylinder head, forged piston, and a 9.2:1 compression ratio. The 2008 model year marked a major overhaul, replacing the carbureted Rhino 660 with the new fuel-injected 700. This update included four-wheel hydraulic disc brakes, a redesigned CVT transmission, stronger axles and CV joints, an updated front differential, a larger radiator, and a stainless-steel exhaust system. The interior also saw improvements with factory rotomolded doors, a revised steering wheel, and passenger grab handles. Subsequent years (2009-2013) brought minor enhancements, such as a new steering wheel and adjustable seat belt in 2011, adjustable shocks and aluminum wheels for Special Editions in 2012, and styling updates in 2013, notably the Tactical Black edition.
