Vehicle Information
Yamaha Tracer 900 Motorcycle - Street (2019-2020)
The Yamaha Tracer 900, available for the 2019 and 2020 model years, is a versatile sport-touring motorcycle known for its comfortable ergonomics and dynamic performance. Both years featured a consistent 847cc, liquid-cooled, DOHC, inline 3-cylinder, 12-valve engine, delivering 115 horsepower (83.9 kW) at 10,000 RPM. This platform offered two main trims: the standard Tracer 900 and the premium Tracer 900 GT. The GT variant came well-equipped with features like color-matched hard side cases, a full-color TFT instrument panel, fully adjustable front forks, a rear shock with remote preload adjustment, a Quick Shift System (QSS), cruise control, and heated grips, enhancing its touring capabilities. There were no mid-cycle generation or engine changes for the Yamaha Tracer 900 between the 2019 and 2020 model years; the 847cc CP3 engine remained unchanged. The primary difference noted for 2020 was the introduction of new color options. A significant redesign, including a larger 890cc engine, was introduced in 2021, which falls outside this 2019-2020 range. FAQ:

Maintenance
| Component | Interval | Details |
| Initial Service | 1 000 km | Oil change and oil filter replacement. |
| General Service Interval | 6 400 km or 6 months (US models) / 10 000 km or 12 months (EU models) | Whichever comes first. Major service items generally occur at 10 000 km intervals up to 40 000 km, then the cycle repeats. |
| Oil Filter | With every oil change | For the 2020 Tracer 900 GT, replacement is specified every 20 000 km, but changing it with every oil change is common and recommended practice. |
| Drive Chain | Before each ride (check) | Check chain slack before each ride and adjust if necessary. Clean and lubricate the chain according to the maintenance chart, more frequently in dusty or wet conditions. The Tracer 900 uses a drive chain, not a belt. |
| Spark Plug | At regular service intervals (e.g., 6 400 km or 6 months) | Check condition, adjust, and clean spark plugs. Replace as needed. |
| Air Filter | According to the periodic maintenance chart | Replace the air filter element. It is advised to check it every other oil change, or more frequently in dusty conditions. |
| Coolant | According to the periodic maintenance chart | Check level regularly. Traditional coolant should be replaced every two years, while long-life coolants can last four or five years. Use ethylene glycol antifreeze with corrosion inhibitors for aluminum engines, mixed 1:1 with distilled water. |
