Vehicle Information
Yamaha TX650 Motorcycle - Street (1973-1974)
The Yamaha TX650, produced between 1973 and 1974, is an iconic motorcycle powered by an air-cooled, 653cc SOHC parallel twin engine, delivering 53 horsepower. Positioned as an evolution of the XS-2, it marked Yamaha's alignment with new four-stroke models. While the core engine remained consistent, the 1974 model, designated TX650A, received significant chassis improvements and minor engine refinements. The compression ratio was slightly lowered to 8.4:1 (from 8.7:1 in 1973) to reduce vibrations. The chassis was reinforced, the swingarm lengthened and strengthened, and the engine's position adjusted to optimize the center of gravity. The 1974 TX650A also featured alloy rims and firmer suspension components. These changes aimed to enhance handling and ride comfort. FAQ:

Maintenance
| Component | Interval | Details |
| Engine Oil and Oil Filter | 5,000 km or as per manufacturer specifications | Check oil level before each ride. Replace oil and filter. Some suggest more frequent replacement (1,600 to 2,500 km) for the first 10,000 km. The TX650 uses a reusable wire netting filter. |
| Spark Plugs | 3,000 to 5,000 km | Check regularly and replace as needed. For carbureted motorcycles, the interval may be shorter. |
| Air Filter | 1,600 km or 1 month | Clean and re-oil the foam element. More frequently in dusty conditions. |
