BMW K100RS Motorcycle - Street (1983-1992)
The BMW K100RS, produced from 1983 to 1992, was an iconic sport-touring motorcycle, renowned for its inline four-cylinder "Flying Brick" engine. All models featured a 987cc liquid-cooled, four-stroke engine. The K100RS was distinguished by its fixed sports fairing and lower handlebars, positioning it as a sporty variant within the broader K100 family. A significant mid-cycle revision occurred in 1989. Prior to this (1983-1988), the engine was an 8-valve unit producing 90 hp. From 1989 onwards, the K100RS received a 16-valve engine (four valves per cylinder), delivering 95 hp in 1989 and 100 hp from 1990 to 1992. This update also included lightened pistons, a new Bosch Motronic engine management system, and chassis and ergonomic modifications such as a new seat and revised handlebars. The anti-lock braking system (ABS) became an available option on later models. Special editions, like the "Motorsport" in 1986, offered distinctive finishes. FAQ:
