Vehicle Information
Ducati 500 GTL Motorcycle - Street (1975-1978)
The Ducati 500 GTL, produced from 1975 to 1978, was a key model in Ducati's parallel twin series. Positioned as a more affordable option following the 1973 oil crisis, it featured a 497cc SOHC parallel twin engine. The GTL delivered 35 horsepower, while later Sport Desmo versions offered 44 horsepower with Desmodromic valve operation. During its production, the 500 GTL saw the introduction of two distinct trims: the Sport Desmo (around 1977) and the GTV (1978). The original GTL featured a single downtube frame and a rear drum brake, while the Sport Desmo and GTV adopted a dual cradle frame and disc brakes. The GTV also addressed some of the GTL's earlier oil feed issues. Minor styling updates, such as a switch from painted to stainless steel guards in 1976, also occurred. Q: Is this product compatible with my Ducati 500 GTL?
