Vehicle Information
Suzuki Katana 600 Motorcycle - Street (1988-2006)
The Suzuki Katana 600, also known as the GSX600F, was a popular sport-touring motorcycle produced from 1988 to 2006. Renowned for its reliability and durability, it offered a balanced blend of sportbike performance and touring comfort. All models featured a 599 cc inline-four, DOHC, 16-valve, air/oil-cooled engine. A significant generational change occurred in 1998. The first generation (1988-1997) featured a distinct styling and engine derived from the GSX-R 750, with Mikuni BST series carburetors. The second generation (1998-2006) underwent a major restyling, adopting a more modern, angular look with twin headlights. While retaining the 599 cc engine, it received updated tuning, Mikuni BSR32SS carburetors, and revised suspension and tire sizes, along with a slight increase in dry weight. The Katana 600 was primarily sold as a single model, without distinct sub-trims. FAQ:

Maintenance
| Component | Interval | Details |
| Engine Oil | Every 3,200 to 6,400 km or 6 months | Intervals may vary by oil type: mineral (approx. 3,200 km), semi-synthetic (8,000 to 9,600 km), or fully synthetic (11,200 to 16,000 km). Check level regularly. |
| Oil Filter | With every oil change | Generally recommended to replace with every oil change, or at least every other oil change. |
| Drive Chain | Every 1,000 km | Check, adjust, clean, and lubricate the drive chain. |
| Spark Plugs | Every 6,000 to 20,000 km | For standard plugs, replace every 6,000 to 10,000 km. For Iridium/Platinum plugs, every 15,000 to 20,000 km. Regular inspection is recommended every 12,800 km. |
| Air Filter | Varies by type and conditions | Paper filters are typically replaced every 12,800 to 19,200 km. Foam filters should be cleaned and re-oiled every 4,800 to 8,000 km. Cotton gauze filters are cleaned every 24,000 km. Inspect and replace/clean more frequently in dusty conditions. |
| Coolant | Every 2 years or 38,400 km | Use an anti-freeze/coolant compatible with aluminum radiators, mixed with distilled water (at least 50% anti-freeze). Some long-life coolants may last 5 years or 80,000 km. |
