Vehicle Information
Yamaha TDM850 Motorcycle - Street (1992-1993)
The Yamaha TDM850, available in North America for the 1992 and 1993 model years, was positioned as a "New Sports" machine. This unique motorcycle blended characteristics of standard bikes with mild dirt-road capabilities, though it was primarily designed for road use. It featured a liquid-cooled, transverse 849cc parallel twin engine with DOHC and 5 valves per cylinder, derived from the XTZ750 Super Ténéré. This engine utilized a 360-degree crankshaft, delivering approximately 77-78 hp. During its two-year run, the TDM850 was offered as a single model without distinct trims. There were no significant generation or engine changes between the 1992 and 1993 model years. The more substantial "Mk II" version, with its 270-degree firing order engine, was introduced later in 1996. FAQ:
