Vehicle Information
Honda Rubicon 500 ATV (2001-2019)
The Honda Rubicon 500, officially known as the FourTrax Foreman Rubicon, is a robust utility ATV produced from 2001 to 2019. Renowned for its reliability and versatility, it was offered with 499cc and later 475cc single-cylinder four-stroke engines, and innovative transmissions like the Hondamatic and DCT. The Rubicon 500 underwent a major redesign in 2015. Models from 2001-2014 featured a 499cc engine and a swingarm rear suspension. From 2015 onwards, it received a new chassis, Independent Rear Suspension (IRS) across all models, and a 475cc engine with Programmed Fuel Injection (PGM-FI). Honda's Dual Clutch Transmission (DCT) was also introduced as an option. Versions with Electric Power Steering (EPS) and Deluxe trims were available. Q: How can I ensure parts fit my Honda Rubicon 500?
R: To guarantee compatibility, please use our year and trim selector on this page.
Maintenance
| Component | Interval | Details |
| Engine Oil and Oil Filter | Every 1,000 km or 100 hours | Replace oil and filter concurrently. For heavy use: every 500 km or 50 hours. Oil capacity (with filter): approximately 3.1 liters (2015+ models). Without filter: approximately 2.8 liters. DCT models: approximately 3.4 liters (without filter). Recommended oil: Honda GN4 10W-30 or 10W-40 (JASO MA). |
| Air Filter | Every 100 hours or 1,000 km (cleaning) | Clean regularly. Replace if damaged or clogged. Replacement is generally recommended every 19,000 km, but more frequently in dusty conditions. |
| Spark Plug | Every 100 hours or 1,000 km | Inspect, clean, adjust, or replace as needed. |
| Coolant | Every 100 hours or 1,000 km (inspection) | Check level. Generally replace every 2 to 5 years. For Honda vehicles, an initial replacement at 96,000 km or 5 years is often suggested. |
| Transmission Belt | These models do not use a traditional drive belt. Transmission maintenance is covered by regular engine oil and filter changes. |
