The Arctic Cat Prowler 550, produced from 2009 to 2015, is a robust utility side-by-side (UTV) known for its reliable performance. It consistently featured a 545cc, SOHC, 4-stroke, 4-valve, liquid-cooled engine with Electronic Fuel Injection (EFI), often referred to as the "550 H1 engine". Power was delivered through an automatic CVT with Engine Braking System (EBS), offering Hi/Lo Range, Reverse, and selectable 2WD/4WD with a front locking differential. Throughout its production, primary trims included the XT and XTX, evolving to 550 XT or 550i XT in later years. While the core engine remained unchanged, the Prowler 550 received notable updates. In 2011, it gained a new Baja racing-inspired canopy, a redesigned digital gauge, and heavy-duty 14-inch aluminum wheels. More significant revisions arrived in 2015, introducing new automotive-inspired bodywork, an in-cab redesign with improved ergonomics, and expanded occupant space. This included a new fully variable tilt steering wheel for more legroom, and new low-profile shoulder and foot restraints. A new closed-loop EFI system with a catalyst exhaust improved fuel economy by 25 percent and reduced CO emissions.
