Vehicle Information
Honda Sportrax 400 ATV (1999-2008)
The Honda Sportrax 400, also known as the TRX400EX, is a renowned sport ATV produced from 1999 to 2008. It features a robust 397cc (or 398cc standard piston size) dry-sump, air-cooled, four-stroke, single-cylinder engine, derived from the Honda XR400R motorcycle. This engine typically delivered 25 to 28 horsepower, utilizing a Radial Four-Valve Combustion Chamber (RFVC) for optimal combustion efficiency and torque, specifically tuned for ATV performance.
While primarily offered as a single model, the Sportrax 400 underwent significant updates. Initially named the Honda FourTrax 400EX (1999-2000), it became the Honda Sportrax TRX400EX from 2001 onwards, with minor graphic and color changes in between. The most substantial upgrade occurred in 2005, often considered a "second generation," introducing a reverse gear, new bodywork, and suspension enhancements. A further facelift in 2008 brought new plastics, a redesigned seat, a reinforced frame, and revised suspension settings, improving ergonomics and durability.
Q: How can I be sure this part fits my Honda Sportrax 400?
