While not offered with distinct trim levels, the CR125R underwent numerous significant revisions throughout its production. Key generational shifts included a complete chassis and engine redesign in 1983, the introduction of the HPP motor in 1990, and a major overhaul with a new aluminum frame in 1998. Further significant updates to the aluminum frame and engine technology, such as the RC valve, occurred in 2000, 2002, and 2005, ensuring continuous evolution of its performance capabilities.
