Vehicle Information
Suzuki Intruder 700 Motorcycle - Street (1985-1987)
The Suzuki Intruder 700, designated VS700, is a cruiser motorcycle produced from 1985 to 1987, primarily for the US market. It was specifically designed with a 699cc engine to circumvent a 45% US import tariff on motorcycles 750cc and larger. This model features a liquid-cooled, 45-degree V-twin engine of 699cc, consistently producing 55 hp (41 kW) at 7500 rpm. Power is delivered through a five-speed transmission and a shaft final drive. Throughout its production from 1985 to 1987, the Suzuki Intruder 700 remained mechanically consistent. Designations such as GL, GLE, or GLH indicated minor market or feature variations, but without significant platform or engine changes. The primary evolution of the Intruder line occurred after 1987, when the displacement was increased to 750cc (VS750 model) in response to an adjustment in US import tariffs. FAQ:
