The Buell Firebolt, produced from 2002 to 2010, is a distinctive sportbike known for its unique "Trilogy of Technology" design, featuring a rigid chassis, centralized mass, and low unsprung weight. This includes a frame doubling as a fuel tank and a swingarm serving as an oil reservoir. It was primarily offered in two main trims: the XB9R and the XB12R.
The XB9R, introduced in 2002, featured a 984 cc air/oil-cooled V-Twin engine. In 2003, the more powerful XB12R debuted with a larger 1203 cc V-Twin engine, offering increased performance. Further significant updates occurred in 2006 for the XB12R, including an increased header pipe diameter, a larger intake throttle body, a stiffer clutch, a new drive belt, and a lighter, stiffer swingarm design.
