Vehicle Information
Buell Lightning Motorcycle - Street (1996-2010)
The Buell Lightning, produced from 1996 to 2010, is an iconic series of sport and streetfighter motorcycles known for their distinctive design and Harley-Davidson-derived V-twin engines. These models, including the S1, M2 Cyclone, X1, XB9S, and XB12S, left their mark with their agility and unique character. The Lightning range underwent several significant evolutions. Early models like the S1 and M2 Cyclone featured air-cooled 1203cc engines, with the introduction of "Thunderstorm" cylinder heads and DDFI injection on the X1 starting in 1999. From 2003, the XB series (XB9S and XB12S) introduced a new platform with an innovative chassis integrating fuel in the frame and oil in the swingarm. Important engine updates occurred, notably in 2005 for the XB12S (transmission change and power adjustment) and in 2009 with major internal revisions to enhance performance and reliability. FAQ:
