Vehicle Information
Suzuki Madura 700 Motorcycle - Street (1985-1986)
The Suzuki Madura 700, a cruiser motorcycle, was produced for a brief period between 1985 and 1986. Designed to compete with Honda's Magna V4 and Yamaha's V-Max, it featured a liquid-cooled, DOHC 16-valve 698cc V4 engine. This powerplant incorporated hydraulic valve adjusters and automatic camchain tensioners to minimize maintenance. Despite its short production run, the Madura models had some distinctions. The 700cc version (GV700GL) was primarily offered for the 1985 model year. It shared the general V4 engine design with the 1200cc version but utilized smaller 33mm Mikuni carburetors, different bore and stroke measurements, and lowered gearing to compensate for its power output. The 1200cc version (GV1200GL/GLF/GLG), available for both 1985 and 1986, saw a "slightly improved shaft" for the 1986 model year (GV1200GLG). Both models featured an 82-degree V4 engine configuration. Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ):
