The Kawasaki KLT250, a robust utility three-wheeler, was introduced in 1982 as a 1983 model year vehicle. This marked Kawasaki's significant entry into adult-sized, four-stroke utility three-wheelers, produced until 1985. It was powered by an air-cooled, single-cylinder, four-stroke, SOHC engine, typically around 249cc (some sources mention 246cc), delivering approximately 20 bhp. Initially, the KLT250 was offered in the 'A' series (A1, A2). A notable mid-cycle evolution occurred with the introduction of the 'C' series (C1, C2, C3), also known as "Prairie" models. These featured higher compression (e.g., 9.3:1 for the 1985 C3) and a wide-ratio 5-speed transmission paired with a dual-mode quick-change differential, enhancing its utility capabilities.
