The Polaris Big Boss 500 6x6 from 1998 and 1999 is a robust utility ATV, designed for challenging terrain and heavy workloads. These models were equipped with a 499cc, 1-cylinder, 4-stroke, liquid-cooled engine. During this period, the Big Boss 500 was primarily offered as a single "6x6" model, highlighting its six-wheel drive configuration. A notable change occurred between the 1998 and 1999 models regarding the rear driveshafts. The 1998 model was the last to utilize U-joints for the rear driveshafts. For the 1999 model year and onwards, Polaris transitioned to using CV (Constant Velocity) joints, a significant improvement. The Engine Braking System (EBS) was featured on the 1998 model. FAQ:
