Vehicle Information
Buell Cyclone Motorcycle - Street (1997-2002)
The Buell M2 Cyclone, produced from 1997 to 2002, was a versatile performance motorcycle, positioned between the sport-oriented S1 Lightning and the touring-focused S3 Thunderbolt. All models featured an air-cooled, 1203cc V-twin engine. Horsepower ranged from 93 to 94 hp for 1997-1998 carbureted models, increasing to approximately 94 to 101 hp for 1999-2002 electronic fuel injection versions. A significant mid-cycle update occurred in 1999, marking a major evolution for the M2 Cyclone. That year, the engine received Thunderstorm cylinder heads and electronic fuel injection (DDFI), replacing the Keihin CV carburetor. The chassis was also upgraded with a cast aluminum rear swingarm, and the suspension transitioned from WP to Showa components. Brakes saw the Performance Machine caliper replaced by a Nissin six-piston unit. 2000-2002 models further benefited from a lightened flywheel, contributing to a quicker-revving engine. FAQ:
