The KTM 400 SX, produced between 1998 and 2002, is a motocross and off-road motorcycle renowned for its robustness and performance. Equipped with a 398 cc liquid-cooled, single-cylinder four-stroke engine, it was designed for competition on track and trail. This period saw significant evolutions for the model. A major evolution occurred in 2000 with the introduction of a new generation of four-stroke engines, often referred to as RFS (Racing Four Stroke). Prior to 2000, 400cc models primarily used the LC4 engine. The new RFS engine was accompanied by significant chassis and suspension modifications, including new WP forks and PDS rear suspension improvements, aiming for a lighter, more compact, and more maneuverable motorcycle.
