Kawasaki 400 LTD Motorcycle - Street (1979)
The 1979 Kawasaki 400 LTD, also known as the KZ 400 LTD or Z 400LTD, is a classic motorcycle powered by a 398 ccm (24.29 cubic inches) parallel-twin, four-stroke engine. This engine produced 36.0 HP (26.3 kW) at 8500 RPM. For the 1979 model year, the 400 LTD was offered as a "custom styled LTD model with cast alloy wheels," referred to as the 400H, including trims like the KZ400-H1 and KZ400 C1 Special. While a major engine capacity increase to 440ccm occurred in 1980, the 1979 model benefited from earlier design improvements to the KZ400 series. These included a 6-speed gearbox and a redesigned cylinder head introduced in 1978 to address oil leak issues and revise rocker arm adjusters. The 1979 LTD specifically introduced cast alloy wheels.
