Its 246 cc or 249 cc engine consistently delivered 22 to 23 horsepower for export models. It was renowned for its robustness and versatility, making it ideal for both road and trail riding. While it didn't feature distinct "trims" in the modern sense, the TS250 evolved through yearly model designations. Significant changes included the introduction of Pointless Electronic Ignition (PEI) in 1971, replacing the earlier points ignition. Major styling revisions occurred in 1976, and in 1977, a double front downtube frame was adopted, along with an engine shift from piston-ported to a reed valve system.
