The Harley-Davidson Disc Glide, identified by the model code FXDG, was a factory-custom motorcycle produced for the 1983 and 1984 model years. It was a short-lived model within the FX Shovelhead family, known for its distinctive disc-style rear wheel. It was powered by Harley-Davidson's 80 cubic inch (1337 cc) Shovelhead engine, an air-cooled, 45-degree V-Twin. The Disc Glide utilized the same 80 cubic inch Shovelhead engine for both 1983 and 1984 model years. However, 1984 saw significant updates: an improved clutch system with a new aluminum alloy basket and diaphragm spring, operating in its own oil bath for a lighter lever pull. Ergonomics were also adjusted, with a lower seat height (26.8 inches) due to shorter rear shocks, reducing suspension travel.
