Honda PC50 Scooter (1970)
The 1970 Honda PC50 was a popular moped, renowned for its reliability and fuel efficiency. It featured a single-cylinder, four-stroke engine with a 49cc displacement, producing approximately 1.8 horsepower (1.3 kW) at 5,700 rpm. A notable change occurred mid-year in 1970. Until April, the PC50 was equipped with an Overhead Camshaft (OHC) engine. From April onwards, it transitioned to an Overhead Valve (OHV), or pushrod, engine, and was re-designated as the PC50K1. This update also saw the generator output increase from 6V x 15W to 23W, and the sump oil capacity slightly adjusted from 0.8-0.9 liters to 0.75 liters. Beyond the standard PC50 and PC50K1, a "sports variant" known as the PS50 (and PS50K1) was also available, featuring a 3-speed gearbox, manual clutch, and telescopic front forks.
