Vehicle Information
Yamaha Riva 50 Scooter (1983-1987)
The Yamaha Riva 50, known as the CA50 model, was a popular scooter powered by a 49cc two-stroke, single-cylinder engine. Producing 3.6 horsepower at 6000 RPM, it featured an electric start, auto-choke, oil injection, and a Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT), offering an agile and practical ride for urban commuting. In Canada, this model was also marketed as the “Salient”. A significant generation break occurred after 1986. The Riva 50 (CA50) was replaced by the Yamaha Jog CE50 for the 1986-1987 model years. Although the Jog CE50 was considered part of the “Riva family” and sometimes referred to as the “Riva Jog”, it was a distinct model featuring a slightly more powerful 49cc two-stroke engine, producing 4.5 horsepower. This transition marks a model change rather than a mid-cycle revision. FAQ:
