The BMW R90, produced from 1973 to 1976, is an iconic motorcycle from the /6 series, renowned for its reliability and performance. Available in two main trims, the R90/6 and the R90S, it was powered by an 898cc air-cooled, two-cylinder boxer engine. These models marked a significant evolution for the brand, combining touring comfort with sporty capabilities. The R90/6 was the standard touring model, while the R90S represented the sportier, flagship version, distinguished by its two-tone paintwork, bikini fairing, and dual front disc brakes, a first for BMW. Although sharing the same 898cc engine, the R90S offered higher horsepower (67 hp versus 60 hp) thanks to Dell'Orto carburetors. The /6 series introduced notable improvements such as a five-speed gearbox, a standard electric starter, and an upgraded Bosch electrical system. Changes were implemented over the years, including drilled brake discs and a strengthened crankshaft for the R90S.
